recording
Making a great recording starts at the source. I use an assortment of microphones, outboard gear, instruments, and amplifiers to achieve the sound your project needs.
Recording in the right space is just as important as the microphones and instruments used for the recording. This is why I typically track at the acoustically designed Ohmstead in Chicago, IL. It’s fit with a medium-sized live room, iso booth, a large control room. Ohmstead is great for live tracking, piece-by-piece recording, and about any other sort of recording you can imagine.

mixing
My goal when mixing is to breathe life into the tracks you have previously recorded and help the song/recording become as good or better than what you intended it to be.

mastering
Mastering is the last step before your recording is ready for release. The goal of mastering is to sweeten a mix, correct mix balance issues, make tracks on an album more cohesive with each other, and to optimize audio for various playback formats.
editing, tuning, and restoration
A common step folks miss when working with audio is editing. It can be long and tedious, but well-worth it when it comes to releasing a professional sounding recording.
If your audio requires cleaning/restoration, I am capable of removing nasty clicks, pops, clipping, distortions, room noise, hiss, bleed between sources, and other common audio issues (within reason). I am also well-versed in tuning and quantization, so if you need a vocal or drum track spiced up, send it my way!
production
A producer can help you make sonic and musical decisions while you’re making a record. I put on my producer cap during almost every project I engineer. As an engineer, musician, and songwriter, I am always willing to give insight into how to shape your song/recording.
